today was my last piano class. ive been with my teacher Ms. Mary for over 12 years. i couldn't take lessons under her anymore because i'm off to college and i'll be living on campus. Ms. Mary is from Hong Kong and destroys the stereotype of the toxic asian piano teacher who will hit your hands when you make a mistake. she has never yelled at me, even when i was being a bitch or playing awfully. she's always been the sweetest and because of her, i don't i will ever give up piano for 50 years. thank you ms. mary for giving me the gift of piano
My second to last piano class was on 5/17, my next piano class will be on June 14th. I've had the same piano teacher for basically all my life. We used to do weekly lessons but in high school we started doing it bi-weekly. I'm really going to miss my piano teacher.
One of the pieces I'm playing for class, Prelude op.28 no.6 (Chopin) is very frustrating to play because the melody is in the left hand, so you need to play the right hand quieter and let the left hand perform the melody. However for some reason my hands really don't like this. It's really annoying because I can get it right for the first couple bars, then I eventually forget and the right hand takes over naturally. It also doesn't help that Chopin loves accidentals. There's a double sharp in this!
